Music: Regina Spektor “That Time”

I started my day by exploring the world under my bed in hopes to find some buried treasures hidden away by ancient peoples eons ago (a younger me). To my dismay I did not find wads of hidden gold or money! Actually, I was just trying to clean up my room and lower the amount of stuff ^^; What I found in the deserted city of dust bunnies, among many things were photos from when I was younger! *GASP*

It was weird finding those photos a reminder of where I had been, who I had met, what it was like to be there and so on. Now I sit in the pile of my past scattered all over my room while I type this blog up. Ironically “That Time” by Regina Spektor started to play in the background, so here I am on my keyboard strumming the keys away.

I started to think with websites such as myspace.com and facebook.com, it’s cool how people can stay in contact (or have popularity contests). Though seeing the photos made me think about how we lose contact with people when we move away from places and then either keep in touch with letters or by calling – now a days with emails and by skyping. Back then when the interwebs was still on dial up and expensive in addition to not being as readily available for everyone, it was much harder to keep in touch with people. Though this is just my experience with trying to maintain friendships overseas. Now that there are all these nifty tools to keep us in touch and stalk… err I mean find people, how much is it helping us keep in touch with people? It is indeed easier to buy a pint of ice cream from the stores than churning it yourself at home. Meaning, it is easier to keep in touch via chat programs or even MMOrpgs, than hand written letters. But in the end how close will you still be with that person who’s overseas? Do these new programs really keep us in touch? Or just delay the end of the relationship? I think about this as I apologize for the unwritten letters, while I sip my cup of water.
