Eating out much?

Recently, I’ve been trying to kick the habit of eating out as much as possible. So this means I’m back in the kitchen trying to cook meals that will last me at least 3 days. We’re talking breakfast, lunch, and dinner. No, not the same thing 3 times a day for a week. Anyway, I came across a funny web calculator “Feed the Pig,” which calculates how much you save if you didn’t eat out (as much). This is basically what it is (I think). This definatly encourages me to pack more lunches and curb my urges to eat out. Hopefully, I can attempt the “Once-a-Month-Cooking.” Eventually….

Another Year

Currently I’m thinking about birthday gifts. It isn’t because it’ll be anyone’s birthday soon, rather, it was because Vance a friend of mine, asked that supposedly magical question: What do you want for your birthday? I guess under a normal circumstances one would have an answer ready for this common question. Unfortunately, I was not prepared and was absolutely stumped. Does that make me a person who lacks desire for material goods? Or does this just make me a person who isn’t staying conscious about what I want; not only in materialistic goods, but in life as well? After a while of thinking I managed to scrounge up a pathetic answer, which really didn’t involve an item of desire - as it was pointed out to me - but more like “what you would want for the future. ” My answer? “I want to have a more organized and kipple-free room” or along those general lines. Now that I think back on it (3 days after the discussion), I realized that it really was just a something I’d want for the future. It’s not something I could get as a gift. I mean I could, but honestly, if someone else cleans my room I’m going to end up flipping my room upside down to find my favorite mechanical pencil if I don’t know where things are.

I finally figured out what I would want, though: Gift certificates to art classes. Actually I had more that I had thought of, but now as I write my blog entry I can’t remember any of the others. So I assume Gift certificates to art classes or miniature classes would be the most significant.

This made me remember about someone talking about how they wanted a coach bag or diamond earrings. I guess what I would really want would be to make a awesome steampunk earring holder! Or making a light box. Pretty much anything that involves organizing will rock my boat it seems. Maybe this is a good thing, honestly, I’d probably end up losing nice earrings unless they connected me to the interwebs all the time.

p.s. It’s not my b-day soon anymore, it has long past… but better late than never eh? ;p

Pepband Trip Doodles

Recently I went on a trip with the pepband to play at the Davis Picnic event. When much was happening in the back of the bus (details that I’ll leave for you to imagine - it’s probably juicier in the imagination anyway ), I was in the front playing a awesome telephone like doodle game.

The rules:

Have the correct number of index cards for the number of players in the game. (example - if there’s 5 people playing you’d have 5 index cards, or tear the standard letter paper to 5 pieces)
Everyone draws (whatever) on their first index card. *There’s a time limit
Pass it on clock wise or counter clockwise
When you get the card from the person next to you, you get a limited amount of time to describe what you see on the next index card.
Pass it on (to the direction that the cards are moving in *duh*)
Read what the person has described and then attempt to draw what they have written
Repeat process until you get your own image back.
Hilarity ensues.

This claymation More by Mark Osborne, is a short animation that gave me the inspiration to make my own claymation The Things We See which can be found in my portfolio section. Though there are no quotes, I’m putting it under the category of “words of wisdom” since there’s something that can be learned from this video. At least that is what I believe.

I had a small file of “More” on my laptop for a long time, but youtube really has done wonders for finding short films that have moved me in someway (additionally helping me find the official websites of the artist). Dynamic Animal Sketching - Watercolors

Today was suppose to be a Zoo day for class, since it was raining the class met up at the studio. We were basically allowed to do whatever we wanted for the class. There were markers and watercolors. I chose the path of the watercolors. They were somewhat unpredictable, but I had a awesome time using this medium! I’m going to definitely try to do more work with this medium!

Maple Story Handmade Pin

Here is a Maple Story pin I made for a friend who (used to) play maple story. Here is the wiki link on Maple Story. I know the slime monsters are suppose to be green, but she’s a purple fanatic so I made this one especially purple for her!

I tried playing MS… but frankly i couldn’t keep up with the whole push Z over and over again…. It is however ridiculously cute! Having my character make different facial expression amused me for hours! I’m sure this wasn’t actually the case, but nonetheless I was pretty entertained. I’m not sure if my character will ever go beyond level 10, but I guess only time will tell… and hopefully, I don’t forget my password if I ever want to go beyond level 10! haha!
